It’s National Cyber Security Awareness Month!

Ah, October. Once again, it’s time for pumpkin spice, football, and National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM).

As part of NCSAM, Wharton Computing and Information Systems & Computing (Penn’s central IT organization) are teaming up to host Penn Wharton Internet Safety for Kids, a discussion for Penn faculty, staff, and students on starting a dialogue with kids and teens about technology and online safety. Now that most of us carry computers in our pockets, it’s especially important for kids and their parents and guardians to know how to cultivate positive technology habits and navigate the ever-shifting culture that has developed around technology.

Join us for a fascinating talk by Erica Pelavin of MyDigitalTAT2 on October 21 at 10:00 am. Erica will touch on how kids use and perceive technology and how adults in their lives can model healthy technology usage. She’ll also offer some suggestions on how to encourage open communication in families about technology and online safety. After Erica’s presentation, we’ll sit down with a panel of experts who will answer audience questions. Seating is limited, so reserve your spot now!

In the meantime, keep an eye out this month for security tips from Wharton Computing. Spoiler alert: have you installed LastPass yet?
