Request a Canvas Site and/or Licensed Content
Each semester for each course, you’ll want to complete our Courseware Request Form to ask for a Canvas Site set up, course copy, and/or inclusion of Study.net and Libraries at UPenn licensed content.
The other form to complete for each class is the Teaching Technology Preparation Survey, which directs information to a different Courseware team to assist with in the physical classroom support and Class Recordings/Panopto folder set up.
Training
We facilitate various training sessions for Faculty, Staff, and Teaching Assistants (TAs/GAs). We would love for you to join us!
Faculty Webinar Series
Each semester we offer several one-hour webinars, usually on Fridays at noon, related to hybrid and online teaching at Wharton. This training is primarily for faculty and staff, but we also welcome TAs. New webinar sessions are announced through our blog and Canvas Global Announcements.
Canvas Basics
Our Canvas experts facilitate this virtual training series at the beginning of each semester, hosted at a variety of dates/times. The trainings address several topics TAs often need to know such as:
- Communicating with students and optimizing Canvas user settings for teaching teams
- Managing assignments
- Groups and group assignments
- Grading and managing the gradebook in Canvas
- Exams and quizzes
Registering for the any of the Canvas Basics sessions will also include enrollment in a Canvas site* which is set up to allow you to review and practice any of these skills, including grading assignments! This training is primarily intended for TAs, but we also welcome faculty and staff. New webinar sessions are announced through our blog and Canvas Global Announcements.
*Please note that this enrollment is processed manually as a batch shortly before the training sessions start each semester.
Consultations
By request, faculty can coordinate to meet with one of our staff members. Often during these consultations, we provide informal training on Canvas use, accessibility, and learning tools & platform functionality.
Review of Courses
Accessibility & Accommodations
Ensure your Canvas site and teaching materials are accessible to students with disabilities with a review from our team’s experts. We can help identify and fix accessibility issues, as well as show you some simple ways to check your slides, readings, assignments, and videos so they can be utilized by students with disabilities. We can also help you set up extra time accommodations for exams.
Copyright Content Audit
Faculty members have the opportunity to request a course review to ensure their class content adheres to fair use and copyright laws. Our licensed content team will audit the course materials to verify proper licensing and compliance. To initiate a review, email us (courseware@wharton.upenn.edu) with “copyright audit” in the subject line at least two months in advance of the course launch.
