Using Discussion Tools Effectively

Discussions can be an important way to build connection among students, foster inclusivity, and integrate knowledge in a course. This session will provide an overview of several discussion tool options available at Wharton (including Canvas Discussions, Harmonize, and Ed Discussions) and the appropriate use cases for them (graded discussion activities, group discussions, reflection activities, Q&A boards). We’ll also discuss strategies for intentionally creating effective discussion assignments that will lead to robust student engagement.

 Academic Integrity

Ensuring academic integrity in your course can be fraught with challenges, particularly when teaching a course with online assessments, but there are there specific steps you can take to help your students abide by the University’s Code of Academic Integrity or MBA Code of Ethics.

During this session, we’ll describe the tools and best practices that can give you more control over academic integrity and discourage cheating for quizzes, assignments, and exams. The webinar will include information on how to use Turnitin, Respondus LockDown Browser, and the built-in Quiz and Assignment tools in Canvas.

Peer Review Options

Description:Students discussing work
Peer review allows students to provide feedback on others’ work, and it can play an important role in integrating course content and developing students’ critical thinking skills. But setting up peer review assignments can sometimes be tricky. This session will provide an overview of peer review options available at Wharton, including Canvas Peer Review, Feedback Fruits’ Peer Review, and discussions for ad-hoc peer review. We’ll also discuss strategies for developing peer review activities that will generate substantive, constructive feedback that students can use.
